I have an 87 BroncoII EB Ed. with Auto Trans and "Touch Drive" 4WD that has worked fine for years... until... my friend borrowed it to drive in the snow! I don't have a clue as to what she did but this is the problem:
Low Range light continuously blinks
4WD light stays solid
Can't shut either of them off
I tried sitting in Neutral with the break depressed and pushing the Low Range button - Nothing happens
I Tried sitting in Drive with the break depressed and pushing the 4WD button - Nothing happens
I tried the same thing in Reverse - Nothing happens
I can't get either of them to shut off and their is no "hub lock" noise when I hit either button. The roads are dry for the most part now, and I am stuck in 4WD and forced to drive this way. Any ideas? Am I missing something??
Looked at the fuses, and looks like nothing is blown. Should rephrase that: Checked the 15A fuse for the 4x4 indicator. Not sure where the "electric shift fuse" in the "starter motor relay" is as the manual says, if that is even the right one.

If its like the Explorer you should be able to clean the brush's and the points were the brush's ride, these tend to get dirty which causes the computer not to reconize the position the 4x4 is in, so ussually when this happends it has a fail safe and wont move the motor will just stay in the last position, i dont know if theres any sites for info for the bronco but here is a site for the explorer i cant see how differant they are http://www.glue.umd.edu/~singletn/web/pages/tcase.html
Also when you get the motor off there should be a little cam, it thats pointing to the 4x4 high and you diciede not to do the first part of it by applying power just cleaning the motor just leave it pointing to 4x4 high but if you do apply the power turn it to 2wd, if theres torx bolts dont need to remove them there nothing to do in it, other wise you can replace the motor all together, for a 300 bucks i believe, and then you have to turn the cam to 2wd as well
