key turn does nothing
- had no dash lights
- took dash apart
- replaced illum light bulbs in instrument cluster
- put it back together
- still no dash lights
- more reading seemed to indicate could be caused by bad headlight switch
- disconnect headlight switch from dash
- pull switch out of dash
- while attempting to remove switch from connector I can see a little movement
- disconnect batteries
- use screw driver to gently pry switch from connector...
- eventually separate switch from connector
- don't see anything wrong with connector so order replacement headlight switch
- put everything back together
- connect batteries
- turn key: NADA, absolutely nothing happens

- I don't have warning chime with key in ignition and driver door open
- I have checked all fuses
- I have confirmed my batteries have charge

Thoughts on what that could be?
Battery connections, both positive and negative, are a good place to check.
If you have a test light or volt meter, the first thing I would check is for 12 v between several chassis ground points and battery positive. If ground/negative to batteries is bad, checking circuits for +12v to the fuse box feeds or switches without the other end being battery negative terminal will give you a false result. After confirming negative/ground is OK, then you can start checking for +12v between major positive feeds and a convenient ground.
If putzing with headlight switch "blew" all power to the truck, you should have noticed a VERY energetic event. I'm with Tom; either batteries dead or something in the big battery cables and connections are most likely.
