Dealer can't figure out my problem. PROBLEM: After dozens of starts my tuck all of a sudden won't start. It cranks for a couple of seconds then just stops, I attempt to start again and again with the same outcome until about eight to ten tries it finally starts. I have replaced the battery, starter and starter relay. After replacing each of these parts I thought the trouble was fixed but after a couple of weeks it happens again.
I am at a loss as to what is causing this. I took it to the Ford dealership they kept it for a few days and said they cannot find anything wrong, it starts for them just fine. I expected this but thought they would diagnose the problem but to no avail.
Can anyone help me???
I had the same intermittent no start issue with my'17 a few years ago. No codes, would crank fine but wouldn't start, ...then it would. Turned out to be the "fuel pump control module", dealership was no help at all. $35 part and 15 minutes to swap it out and that fixed it.
I have a 2016 F250 6.7 liter gas. I have a mechanic who thinks it is a ground issue. Im taking it to him tomorrow Monday 10/20 so he can diagnose it.
I'll let you know what he finds.
thanks for asking
I took my truck in this morning and by noontime the mechanic had traced the electrical then found the truck coded and indicated the relay #48 start/run was the culprit. He installed a new factory relay and before charging me a fee, he asked me to drive it for two weeks then if everything is okay we can settle the bill. It seems like a very simple solution but I am hoping this will solve my problem.
That is good news I hope they have found the culprit.
Perhaps even better news is your experience with the dealer. A common theme these last few years has been they are difficult to work with, have less than stellar techs, seem to just want money over building loyal customers, etc.
Hope it all works out and your truck is solid now.
