Start problem

2001 PSD random failure to start. tested and cleaned battery posts checked all connections have tried to troubleshoot but problem always goes away before I can find it. When it fails it will just click and nothing else. sometimmes it will do this a several times in one day and then it may not do it again for a several months. Starter solenoid?

I am with you on the Starter, try tapping the starter.. It doesnt always work.

Solenoid is possible,(w/ a dozen other parts)

Gonna be hard to pin down being that intermittent.

What do you do to get it started?

It usually starts before I can get too serious about finding the problem. If we are out somewhere we usually try again and again and it'll start. Then of course it may be weeks or more before it happens again.

What year truck? If you've got the relay mounted on the fender, have you taken it off and cleaned the lugs for the cables, as well as cleaning the back of the relay so it's got a good ground?
