I have a 1996 f-150 xlt 4wd 5.0 and I am having problems shifting. The 1-2 shift is harsh and when it shifts to o/d it will rev up and float a bit then shift in to o/d. When you let of the gas in o/d it will downshift into 3rd. I just had a new transmission put in it two weeks ago and it worked fine for a little over a week. Also if you floor it it will go up to the rev limit in 1st gear and will just stay there till you let off the gas then it will shift. If you barely get on the gas if will shift through the gears fine but it takes like 2 min to hit 60 that way. Does any one know what could be happening?
I recommend Forscan. You can download it free at www.forscan.org. You don't have to buy a license just to read codes. Their page shows how to select an OBDII port adapter. I bought mine from Amazon for about $30.

I have a obd2 code reader. One is a innova 3100 abs and the other is a innova 3210rs. I tried both of them and the only codes is p0443,p1409,p0141, and p0417. I am not worried about those because they are emissions and they have been removed.
Is that the same problem you had before you had the transmission replaced?
No, before I had the transmission replaced it would no go over 35 without putting it in 2nd on the column even though it did shift all the way into o/d
