harsh shift from 3rd to 2nd

when I manually shift from third to second, it slams in. Not smooth or even close to what I think should be normal. All other gears shift fine. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

How many miles are on your truck...was it tight when new

17,000, never really shifted from 3rd to second until about a month ago, deer season in CA.
