3.5 Ecoboost running rough
3.5 Ecoboost running rough
So, I replaced the timing chain, water pump, oil pump and injectors. Its not an F150 3.5, its in a Flex, but other than the phasers, same general engine as the F150. At first it stumbled, then stalled, was hard to start, and after it ran for awhile started to smooth out, and got a code for #6 misfire. Swapped coils and plugs, cleared DTC reran tests today after it was completely cold, no more #6 misfire, but got 4 and 5 misfires, though nothing setting off the CEL.
I yanked the 3 plugs, see some carbon on them, know they are firing. I removed the oil cap and a LOT of vapor came out, it smells a bit like a lawn mower, IE overly rich fuel mixture. I did have trouble installing that bank of injectors where I had to tap the rail in place with a dead blow, but not hard smacking, just light tapping and now wonder if the injectors got damaged. I just want some second thoughts before I drain the coolant and yank the intake off again.
Or is there a step I missed regarding the new timing chains and the VCT's via a scan tool?
