Door key lock

Having difficulty installing new key tumbler in passenger door on ‘52 F1. How to align shaft that extends inward from key tumbler with hole in mechanism inside of door

Oddly enough, yesterday, I was having the same problem with my '56 F100 and discovered I had the little spring that holds the extension arm on the lock cylinder installed backwards. When I turned it around the arm was a lot more stable and I was able to line it up with the hole. Unfortunately the after market arm was not exactly the same as the original one I have for the passenger side. The round pivot pin is too long. So I will have to cut it to the right length and I think it will work. I may have to cut the extension arm also but I will try it first. I'm not sure if this helps you as your truck is a '52 F1 and may be different.
