BARO is reading 8.8 PSI KOEO according to Forscan. Raises maybe 1 PSI at most when running the truck hard. I am at 480 ft above sea level lol. Truck runs good otherwise. No codes. Unplugged it still reads 8.8 PSI but seems to pull a little harder although shifts are much rougher. Shouldn't unplugged default to sea level PSI? I would think if the truck thought i was at 14,000 ft it would run horrible no?
BARO: Barometric pressure sensor Strategy input; PCM uses this to adjust fuel quantity and injection timing for optimum running and minimum smoke, also glow plug on time to aid starting at higher altitudes; 5 volts in, @4.6 volts/14.7 psi at sea level, decreasing as altitude increases. PID: BARO (pressure)
Maybe you have a shorted or crossed wire if reading so low?
Brand new BARO reads the same as the old one. Guess I better look at the wiring. Strange that it reads 8.8 unplugged though
Because I was searching for an answer to the same issue on my 97, and came across this thread, my ForScan Baro reading was 8.9 at sea level, too, I wanted to post my findings.
There is a “BaroV” PID, and it reads the correct pressure. In fact, there are 2-3 options for PID’s to select from for Baro, MAP and EBP. And options for what units you’re displaying. There’s even a frequency option for the MAP, separate from a PID that will display PSI or KPa.
Hope this helps someone else in the future.
