Suggestions Needed

Is there anyone reproducing grill parts? Photos show my at the moment project and difficulty. Grill overall is really nice except for the passenger side bucket and I would like to replace that section. Any thoughts appreciated. Thx, tim

No one reproduces 54 grilles. They are too perfect to be reproduced by modern man.

Actually that grille looks pretty good. The passenger side headlight bucket looks very fixable. The Swiss Cheese rust is hidden behind the grille bar.

I'm not a bodyman but the rust at the front of the bucket looks like an easy fix. And the fix will be hidden by the trim ring.

Abe is spot on, it would not be very expensive to fix what you have versus the cost of a new bucket and having it installed, as stated it will all be hidden under the ring.

they are all different each year. 53 is 53 only 54 is 54 only and 55 is 55 only

Abe - I may just have to fix up what I have but I really would like to replace that section of the grill and was hoping I overlooked a repro source.

bigwin56f100 – I would be pleased if you could check your inventory for that needed grill section. I am willing to pay up if you have a donor grill I could salvage a bucket off of. I’ve an open mind to what is usable / repairable. My second photo shows what I would like to improve on.

Pltnsgt06 – I thought the same thing until yesterday before I began my search. I thought there might be hopes of interchangeability of of years for that grill section, oh well, good thought.

Gentlemen, I appreciate your reply’s. tim

all I could find was a driver side 53 and a driver side 54. The 54 one is chrome. I at least took pics to show the difference in how the center sections attach and how the ends are different. The one pic I'm pointing to is of the design of where the parking lamp sits below the grill. On a 55 this is different as well because the park lamp housings are different.

I have a beautiful 54 grill here but it's probably a little more than you'd want to spend.....

Are you looking for the removeable bucket that the headlight sits in, or the surrounding housing as part of the grill? I have a 53 grille with good housing sections that could be cut off and welded in place of yours. I am pretty sure that part of the grille is the same on the 53 and 54, but you would need to confirm that.

Hi arthall,

Unfortunately the '53 if different enough to not be viable. That year is the closest but the molding around the grill attachment is different enough to not make it usable. I do very much appreciate the thought on your part. Thx, tim

Still looking......
