is there a different spacer that goes between the rails and frame other than the small rubber pads?
just sitting on the pads the wood hits the frame rais(do i have to notch them 2 boards out?)
also is this steel shim in correct spot?

i see .....i didnt no about the wood blocks. how thick r they? do i need 8 wood blocks?
how about the steel shim
Yes, 8 blocks for the long bed, I'll have to find the dimensions and get back to you. The 4 that are on each side of the differential are angled for the hump.
im working on an f100....6 1/2 bed
if im not to use wooden blocks do i have to router the 2 boards that bolt down to the frame?
i hav2 thick pads in the rear...4 thin in the middle rails and have a large gap on the front rail

I wouldn't think you would have to but I'm not familiar with the 1/2 ton trucks. What do your crossmembers look like? My headboard bolted directly to the frame, I put a rubber isolator pad in between.

OT for this thread now but I Just did mine 2 weeks ago and there was no standard size for the block. The middle 2 rails have 4 of them that have to be cut at an angle to accommodate the frame shape and they were all different. It seems to me that the distance is different on each truck although I imagine they were cut to a standard size from the factory. But that was before 70 years of use.
There may in fact be a standard block size but on mine I found them all to be just slightly different.

With all four cross rails in place you shouldn't have to do anything other than laying the boards down and secure them with the bed strips ..boards should clear the frame rails by 1/4" approximately ..
The plywood floors on the panel trucks were routed out at the frame rails though.. Don't mess up your boards ,they are too expensive..
