Interesting airbag setup. Like to see how this turns out. Seems like getting a B&W with airbags to fit together is always a bit of fab, and nothing really looks like that great of an option.
Yeah, I think I could have something clean and much simpler with the standard Firestone airbags as well, but I'm glutton for punishment. I always fall down the rabbit hole of "what if" when I'm building custom that often slows me down, then I often still end up with a less ideal final product...
I just welded the upper bag mount to the B&W side plate. Then just used the standard bracket on top of the u bolt plate on leaf spring. No weird brackets or anything and I would consider it pretty simple setup.
Hard to really see what is happening in this photo, but I finished the bag setup. This is my "test" and it includes a 1" white spacer at the bottom. The idea is that I could remove that spacer and the black cradle on top of it and bag would never touch the plate while daily driving empty. The thought was that this would give a better unloaded ride, but I doubt I will ever remove that spacer. Can't wait to toss this bed out and start the flatbed.
I definitely wouldn't fool with removing anything for daily driving. I let all the air out of mine to 0 unless I towing camper and you don't even notice them.
I think this style of bag can run 0 PSI, but I'm not sure why it really matters for either style bag. I do think I'll end up removing the spacer eventually, but I need to do some testing first.

Yes it is a daystar knockoff. Unfortunately Daystar was OOS (and still are) but eventually I'd like to swap them out for the real deal.
This is still a proof of concept for me, and I'll be loading up the camper for the Memorial Day weekend for a first test.

I've never had a single issue running them at 0. Have airlift kit on mine for about 10 years or so now.
I added air bags "inside the coil springs" on my Suburban.
Instructions stated 10 psi minimum.
bought the Excursion, and forgot about the air bags. the lines had a tiny leak,
and now the airbags won't air up anymore.
I think the Suburban air bags were not tested for psi over at least 18 months.
probably more, LIFE got in the way, for two years, moving my sister from Utah.
