just bought 2019 6.2 f250, 4X4
replaced charcoal canister (old one was full of mud)
when I filled the gas tank and immediately got check engine light. (gas cap on tight)
only 2 codes showed up on AUTEL scan
U2100:00-2A initial configuration not complete and U2024:51-28 control module cal-config data.
I understand the U is for network but can someone tell me what the other numbers indicate?
Would like to try self repair before going to dealer Thank you, Jim
Use the Autel to monitor the EVAP system. The U codes won't set a CEL and can usually be ignored unless you are having problems with items not working (like ABS, cluster etc). You probably need to let the system go through a series of EVAP system checks to clear the code. Your model year has a complicated EVAP system check procedure.
That is my delima.
only codes showing are now u codes which were always there yet check engine light is on.
autel cannot clear the check engine light.
have had p code 2 weeks ago from loose gas cap and was able to reset CEL off with autel.
No other codes show up on autel
Idea: Will try loosening gas cap and driving to throw a p code. , tighten the cap and then use autel to clear the p code to see if i can clear the check engine light.
Forscan and Torque Pro (a simple phone app) show the status of emissions monitors. See if there is a section in your Autel that also shows this (it really should be there). But you also may have a problem with module communications that can't send data about the CEL. I don't know....
I have a mid level Autel ($400) I use for the wife's Volvo. I have not used it much but can see where to find the emissions monitors if you can't find them.
Looks like the problem is with the autel. I have the high priced blue tooth one.
When I scan all the systems (auto scan) the pcm shows no codes, when i do just a pcm scan it shows P0496:00-EC (evap high rurge rate) and I am able to erase that code.
when re starting the engine no check engine light.
Just received a new gas cap . tank is full now. will install new cap at next fill uo and see if check engine light re appears.
Thanks for the help, I'll report back on next fill up either way.
Erasing EVAP codes does not clear all the monitors. Hopefully the leak is fixed and over the next couple of days the truck will run all the EVAP tests and they will pass. Some tests require steady driving, overnight "soak", more than 1/2 tank of gas and more so it can take a while to get through them all if you are driving occasionally.
