I would still look into repairing the Onkyo.......
I did a search for Onkyo service and found one of the largest facilities in Junction City, KS. They will give me a free estimate of repair so if it's totaled I'm only out the UPS charge. That seems like a good risk, if repair is reasonable, I can get my receiver back for less than a new one. Thanks for the suggestion. These days, it seems like electronic components are looked at like throw aways, I'll let you know how it comes out.
