i use it, but its my dads system: Denon reviever, Sony Components (CD, DVD, VCR), (2) 4 foot tall Canton mains, canton center and surround speakers, 12'' sub box (2 speakers) with down and front firing, touch-screen remote, speakers outside on the porch that play independent of the main system, but run off of it, as well as in my parents bedroom with seperate volume ***** for each pair. what can i say, my dads an audiophile....this system will pound you with a good movie...all he needs now is a big-screen
in my room i have his old stereo stuff hooked to my computer. JVC R-X40 reciever, Rectilinear speakers, JVC L-F210 turntable i USE with all his old albums (Tull, Sabbath, Fleetwood, ten years after....this list goes on). when i eventually some day get my own house built, guess who i'm gonna let spend my money on a stereo....
i just REALLY wish he hadn't sold his Klipsch La Scalas......i'd have paid him for them, but i wasn't at home when he sold them.
As with any 18 year old, I would like a more powerful surround sound system. I would like larger speakers (bookshelf or tower speakers) with a 300 Watt, 12" Sub.
Other than that...I love my system. I bought all of this myself when I was about 15 years old...except for the DVD player...that was a christmas gift.
pioneer CT-W770 dual casette deck
pioneer PD-F505 25 disc CD changer
pioneer VSX D711 500 watt receiver
pioneer PL-570 full automatic turntable
pioneer center and surround speakers and durabrand(wal-mart) sub
I have a old David Halfler amp & a set of tower speakers with 2-12s & several mids & tweeters. Its about 750 watts a channel at 4 ohms & still wakes the neighbors.
well in my garage ive got, 4 12's, two in the shop, two in the computer room, two aiwa shelfs in the computer room, three surrounds in the shop, and two outdoor speakers at the pool. all this is being powered by a aiwa amp, supplied by my computer.
Old system that's now in my room now that I got a new one - Phillips Digi-amp surround sound with DVD player. And I'm working on putting speakers in the walls and inconspicuous places. But I replaced the sub and amp, with a car amp running off the sub's DC power supply, and running a 12" and a 10" sub. The 10 is a Kicker Comp VR - It's mainly for mids and mid-lows, and the 12 is an audiobahn for sub-lows like explosions that shake you up really bad.. when watching it on like a 14" tv lol. My friend's giving me his 54" DLP though, so the 36" flat screen is going in my room, and the 54" in the living room.
Now for the living room - I have a Kenwood surround system that is 600 watts RMS.. 5.1 surround sound, and something like a 900 watt peak. It get's loud and it is heard from down the block. It sounds good and has digital sound correction, and time delays and all sorts of fun features. I like it.
Denon AVR2805
Kenwood DV-505 DVD player, the next on the list for replacement
Klipsch KV3 center
Klipsch 2.5 fronts
Klipsch 1.5 surrounds, just 2 now but I will add 2 more later
Klipsch 10" sub, to be replaced with an SVS unit later
I would like to get a good tube amp and some Heresy's, Belle's, etc for listening to music.
I consider myself a relatively hard-core audiophile. My home system consists of...
-> Sony DVP-NS775V DVD Player (used as a CD transport)
-> Ack! Industries digital-to-analog converter (a non-oversampling DAC)
-> NAD 1600 preamp/tuner
-> NAD 2100x amp
-> NHT 1.1 bookshelf speakers (on sand filled metal stands)
-> NHT SW2Pi powered subwoofer
-> Kimber Kable PBJ interconnects and AudioQuest Type-4 speaker cables.
I've had the preamp, amp, and speakers for over 10 years and still enjoy them tremendously. I still gives me goosebumps on certain recordings. With the new digital source, the sound quality is even better than before.
I'm also into headphones and have...
-> Sennheiser HD650 headphones wih Zu Mobius headphone cable
-> Headamp Gilmore Lite headphone amp
My dream system would consist of Wilson Audio speakers driven by Mark Levinson electronics. Such a system would cost over $50K!

Main Speakers- 1 pair Carver Amazing Loudspeakers ALIII-Plus. 6 ft tall with a flat "panel" up top that houses the 48" dipole ribbon (it's like a tweeter on steroids). the bottom houses a single downfiring 10" woofer. These speakesr require gobs of power, but the result is simply the most dynamic sound and imaging I've heard. they are focal point of my system, emphasis on 2-channel audio
Power:
1 Carver A500x- 2 channels at 400 watts per channel. THX certified , runs the ribbons
1 Carver AV705x- 5 Channels at 125W, 200W peak for any single channel, THX certfied, runs the center/centers and surround speakers
Subwoofer-
Sunfire MarkII True Sub- 2700watt tracking down-converter amp pushing a single 9" long throw sub in an 11"x11"x11" box that will shake your innards.
Center Channel- Carver and Cambridge Soundworks. Sometimes one or the other and sometimes both depending on the furniture used. Now, just running the thinner cambridge on top of the display.
Surrounds- Carver dipole wall mounted surround speakers from the 5.1 setup.
preAmp- a cheesy little Sony Dolby Digital pre-pro that needs to be replaced. but it works.
Display- 42" ESA plasma EDTV (we only watch DVDs, no need for HD)
It's not THE dream system, but you'd have a hard time impressing me with one of those $100,000 systems after hearing what I've got already.
