Exhaust Manifold Time

Drivers side is leaking.
Money is not my issue so, Ford OEM which has already let me down, or the evil Dorman?
I hate the made in China dynamic, but I don't know where the OEM is made anyway.
Opinions please!

I was wondering why headers weren't listed as an option.
Then I saw there were 2 manufacturers, both over $2,500.
Ouch.

Not what I would call a bang for my buck!
Just want to do it right once.

I haven't had a problem with exhaust header leaks on my 6.2, but I had to replace about ten studs on an Expedition with a 5.4 that was run in salt and winter conditions most of its life, before I got it. Just get out the PBlast stuff and soak 'em good and go have a couple beverages before you start.

It's not necessarily where the OEM stuff is made, but it does matter where you buy the stuff, because as the stuff is made for the OEM part, the rejects and all the lesser quality stuff that can be had is made on the same line, and sold through different supply chains, like the auto parts stores, Amazon and Ebay, and the quality can get pretty shoddy. That's my answer why to get your stuff though the OEM supplier, even if it costs more.

Someone else can pay $2500 for a set of headers. But, I'm an old guy. What do I know? I do know prices are ridiculous.

I would go with OEM as well. At least you know it's the "first-run" stuff and not the FORD rejects.

Money may not be the issue, but it will be when you have to go and replace the same part, over and over. What I said earlier, about the parts all being made on the same line is pretty much true, and almost all of it is made somewhere else. I've done it, just like everyone else, buying the cheapest one I can, and doing just what I said a lot of others do. What probably drives most of us nuts, more than anything, is when we buy that top tier, and it is bad. At least Ford will take the part back, unless it is an electrical part. Amazon will, and send it right back to you. I've had that happen.

I was at a commercial fastener store, and actually trying to compliment the guy behind the counter, for selling me the good nuts and bolts. He kinda laughed, and said, "Mark, all of it is made in China, nowadays". I laughed after that, and asked him, "Are Timken bearings still made in the USA? I sure hope so!

Face it. We're being sold less quality as every day goes by.

As a matter of fact, a lot of the Timken bearing manufacturing moved to China years ago. They are not worth their cost anymore.

I can help with good pricing and fast service on the OEM stuff if you decide to go that route.
