2025 F250 Lariat. Tailgate latch seems really loud when releasing to open. Makes a loud pop. Everything seems fine and working correctly. Anyone else have this?
Agreed, it is just loud enough to startle anyone around. I checked out everything and all seems good. I'll give it some time and maybe it will "break" in a little more quietly. Lol
Is it the sound of the latch unlocking that's loud or does it happen as the tailgate is lowering? When I got my truck, the tailgate made a loud popping or cracking sound as it lowered, which came from the cable catching the tie down bracket as the cable straightened out

Mine does this, too. The bed on my 24 F350 is slightly out os alignment due, I think, to inconsistencies in the frame - the left rear is about a 1/2” lower than the other three corners. I complained to my dealer about this and he said that they “openned a case with Ford”, whatever that means.
Mine has gotten a bit better (less of a bang when opening the tail gate) as the truck has aged. I’ve learned to live with it.
I don’t expect any resolution from Ford about the misaligned tailgate. This truck was a special order and I didn't notice this issue during the delivery inspection.
I've adjusted the strikers so gate is flush on both sides when closed. Noise is getting a little better. After looking at it I'm thinking the tailgate is just a bit twisted if that makes sense. Driver's side has slack in cable when open, yes I know that's normal, but drivers size also closes about 3/8in before passenger side. Either way, not thrilled with body work on a new truck. Prolly just leave it alone.

Mine does not do this. In fact, I wouldn't even say it's loud. Do you have to kind of slam it to close? Seems like the latch or hinge is a tiny bit off adjustment.
There are two torsion rods at the bottom of the tailgate that need adjustment. If you open the tailgate and look at the very bottom you should see a screw on the right side. I forget the procedure to adjust them, but what you are hearing is the rods popping as tension is removed.
This is from a 2012, but same design. BTRV had a video on his 2017 F450 as well, couldn't find it though
