Shop vac with an extension on the end to clean out?
Yeah, that’s not anywhere near as comfy a spot to work with that I remember when I first put that CAF in. I did the blower motor resistor back in May or thereabouts and it definitely wasn’t a fun squeeze.
I’ve got one of those Klein inspection scopes with the built-in light that would see up there. Maybe you can bum one off someone or a parts store rents them.
Yeah, that definitely does not need much to cut. I used one of my box cutters and not much of it at that. It was like cutting through butter once it got started, though.
Some guy called me out (not on this site) for installing the CAF. He said the evap is at risk of freezing and/or blower motor burning out because this style of CAF is restricting of air flow.
LOL. I saw that and that was a hilarious pile of logic he used over there. I’ve got a 284,000 mile F150 with a CAF in it for half its life with the original blower still in it. My ‘08 SCrew blower motor died at 58K miles and that truck had nowhere to put a CAF.
You gotta bear with some folks. My other ride is a Ram. Considering mankind has been to outer space (allegedly), one would have thought that 8-speed transmission **** shifter would have started WW3 on its own when it was introduced depending on what your read about it. 🥴
Apparently there was a dealer-installed filter option available. But tit doesn't look like many people asked for it. The parts involved don't appear to include new blower motors or other electrical parts. So, it appears that the system can handle a bit of flow reduction.
Part # F65Z-1477AAFunny, I found an old post about it. Looks like the "kit" was a template and instructions for cutting a hole.
