Had to swap out my cabin air filter the other day.
wow, what a huge air loss I am noticing! It’s probably 50% of what it was.
the picture is what I bought.
looking for recommendations on a different filter for more air flow
crap I just bought a similar one to change mine. Sure enough I searched reviews for "restriction" and a bunch came up just like OP mentioned. I don't want to use the Motorcraft one because it's not charcoal, but looks like I will have to. IMO the charcoal ones do a much better job, all well.

anything hepa rated is going to restrict flow that 5 layers takes its toll. It like the factory air filter vs a k&n. To filter smaller particles flow is a trade off. If you go with the same part number -the HP you will have the flow back. I’ll add drive it around for a week. Maybe it defrosts the windows fine and you get less dust in the cab. Maybe the max flow isn’t needed.
Ended up taking the hepa back. Got another filter from Advanced for $18. Looks similar to factory and I got my air flow back. Seems like it’s a bit more than the factory filter 😎
The only thing these filters do is filter the air when you draw air in from the outside vents right?
while on circulation, does it not filter anything?
