I have a leak on what I’m assuming is my transmission oil cooler. When I look at replacements, they are a fraction of the size that is currently mounted in front of my radiator. I’m assuming it’s transmission fluid that’s coated on the left side of it. Been monitoring fluids and nothing has been low. Truck is a 2009 F-150 with 4.6.
Yeah I realized after driving out of town this past weekend that that’s power steering fluid leaking out of the condenser. Had to top off my PS fluid a little bit.
Just curious here, instead of disrupting the AC charged system, what about removing the PS fluid lines and route them to a seperate add-on heat exchanger.

That is what I’m considering doing. I don’t have the equipment to evacuate the system and it seems like anything involving the AC system brings high labor costs at a shop.

has been done boy others on here.
If the ac is working well, that would be my preferred option. Small Aftermarket coolers are really inexpensive and it doesn’t have to be very big.
Stop by a big box hardware store and go back to the air filter aisle. Likely they have foaming A/C coil cleaner. Easy peasy to clean out the crap that leaked out so your A/C still works ok. Spray in, let foam, clean water rinse.

That is what we did to the most recent pair of trucks at work, bypass the p/s cooler and run it through a small aftermarket one. You will need some adaptors since the coolers are 3/8” and the lines on the truck are 1/2”
