Loss fuel pressure

2004 with just over 115K Ok so today i was moving and while i was loading truck and trailer i let the truck idle so it was cool when i got back in, it was 112 outside today. Didn’t take me long to load then drove 8 miles to the storage unit unload and drive off went 2 miles and had a loss of fuel pressure gauge went to 0 truck died costed to an empty lot and cycled the key and pressure went to 2psi went back to the truck maybe 30 min later and pressure came back to over 50psi and truck started. What’s your thoughts on why, this isn’t the first time I’ve left it running in high temps.

Failing fuel pump. Have you checked if pump is running when pressure drops?

I didn’t not hear it run when I cycled the key off and on.

Next to check is if pump is getting power at the connector.
Pull connector at pump and check if there is power and ground.

it’s working now I went back to the truck about 20 min after it died and it turned on and has 55psi so I’m not sure if there is a thermal protection on it and it tripped or what the issue was

Install a fuel pressure gauge. Low fuel pressure kills injectors.

Sometimes the pump issues are only when engine is getting warm.
