Well after trying to do a fuel pressure shim and it not doing a damn thing but lowering the pressure, I decided I needed to put a real fuel pressure gauge on the truck first....
So here are the at idle and reved up pressures... No shim. But it doesnt matter, with a shim or without a shim its about the same pressure...
What could I be doing wrong? and what would cause such low fuel pressure? The truck runs just fine and drives like it has ever since I got it in january...
What is the next step to up my fuel pressure back to a factory level? less than 20 PSI is no where near 60-80 PSI it should be...
Im scared to drive the truck this way...ANd want it back on the road as soon as possible because I dont want to have to borrow a Duramax to tow my trailer early next week..
Matt:
Are you sure that you shimmed the FPR properly? If nothing else it may be worth it just to remove the brass cap and make sure that the spring didn't slip off of the centering "Tit" and/or deformed the spring.
I have had it apart a few times now... Only thing I can think is the metal piece that is triangular, mightnot be lining up and is pushed out... But the amazing bit to me, is that the truck drives like normal...
It is behind the fuel filter housing and in front of the turbo bolts in the valley and runs off a lobe on the cam in your case under that spaceship looking thing behind your fuel filter housing.
Nevermind... That's what happens when I post before I'm awake...
Would fuel leaks in the valley cause a pressure issue? Cause I need to fix that too and will do it next week along with a new pump/regulator. I just got to find a regulator someplace.

Yeah for sure bet the pump is leaking out the weep hole and that is your leak and your pressure problem why do you need a new regulator?
As long as the FPR and fuel bowl aren't cracked they are completely rebuildable. Ed (y2kparts) can get you everything for that. New pump, washers, 3/8' and 5/16" hose (can't recall the spec at the moment) and your good to go.
Matt, call me Ive got a bunch of extra fuel parts filter bowl, regulator pieces etc., left over from the other one I rebuilt recently. I got the entire assembly from a scrap yard to get a few minor pieces out of the lot.
