I have a 1995 F150 with the AODE/4R70W transmission in a regular cab 2WD. Last fall we had issues with the sensor in the rear differential going bad and the speedometer either not working or jumping around. After trying 3 sensors it started working again. Now it is having an issue with the torque converter locking up as soon as the truck shifts into 2nd gear. It is also not wanting to come out of second gear as you slow to a stop from highway speed- as you brake it lugs the engine down until it eventually downshifts to first - or it kills the engine. Speedometer is working correctly. Truck has 110,000 miles.
I have read that there was a sensor on the instrument panel (?) that the transmission used for torque converter lockup - supposed to happen at 30-40 MPH - but mine is locking up a soon as it shifts to 2nd gear. The details I could find were vague with no indication as to where this sensor was located on the panel or the part number. Anyone have an idea?
What was surprising is that this seemed to be an issue primarily on 1995 models. The few times I found it the issue always seemed to be with a 1995 model.
