You can get the B&W for OEM prep. They have that nice fold down handle to lock the ball in place.

I looked closer at the Amazon link he posted. It looks like that ball has a little ball detent that keeps the ball from popping out.

On the one I had installed in my truck there’s a little lever under the driver wheel well that I have to pull out and push to the side to remove the pen that goes through the ball shaft.

Yes, you're correct. You bought the B&W Turnover Ball system, which is a good solid system, used it a lot myself on trucks that didn't come with fifth wheel prep. The OEM fifth wheel/gooseneck prep system is also very solid, but a completely different system and no parts are interchangeable between the two.

The biggest advantage to the OEM system is that it comes with the plug in the bed for both your 7-way round AND, at least with Ford, the 12-way plug for the trailer mounted camera/trailer mounted BLIS system if you want to add it. If you don't get the fifth wheel/gooseneck prep package from the factory, you have to add that yourself and have the functionality unlocked.

If you have a short bed truck and need to move the ball back for more cab clearance Gen-Y Hitch makes this extender.

Thanks man, ordered one today. Tried to get the dealer to throw one in, and it was like asking for a kidney
