When purchasing a truck with a fifth wheel prep package, is there anything else that I would need to buy to make this operational to use as a gooseneck?
The B&W OEM kit is a bit cleaner, but also a little more money. Depends on how often you plan to take the ball out. I got the GM/Ford kit by Curt and didn't think about the B&W until after the fact. I don't remove the ball and anchors often, so either is fine for my use.
This is what I use too. Highest quality out there and the only option still made in the US. Be careful where you buy from as there are a ton of china knockoffs doing their best to trick you into thinking it is a B&W. Stick to authorized retailers.

i just installed a b&w gooseneck a few months ago in my 2020. I have the option to flip the ball over when not in use.
I wonder if that ball is compatible with fords factory setup?
If so, all i would need are 2 pucks.

No, it's not compatible. The turnover ball has a square pocket it sits in, whereas the OEM is round.
Yeah, it stinks that you can't use it for a new truck with OEM setup.
No, the handle on the ball is what locks it in place.
Pretty easy to see how it works in the Amazon pictures.
Sorry. I just looked closer at the Amazon link that you posted. It looks like that ball has a little ball detent that keeps the ball from popping out.
On the one I had installed in my truck there’s a little lever under the driver wheel well that I have to pull out and push to the side to remove the pen that goes through the ball shaft.
