Rear hinge paint gone
Hi,
Just wondering what your experiences are with rear hinges like these where the paint has come off and now have surface rust instead.
Surely I can get some touch up paint but was wondering what the root cause is and a reasonable strategy to avoid this in the future.
Thanks.

Everyone I've ever seen in the last 10 years looks like that.

It is a wear location. Any amount of paint/powder coat is going to come off. I just apply some grease on it.

They did this when brand new. Take a look at a brand new Jeep door hinge and you'll see the exact same thing. It's a wear surface.
If it bothers you, clean up with vinegar as best you can. Then come back with a very light film of grease. maybe some WD-40

I use FLUID FILM
bye bye rust forever.
apply it, let it soak a day or three and wipe off the ugly stuff.
I spray every door hinge on every vehicle we have,
including the Bathroom door in the house, it squeaks if I don't lube it.
wd-40 is a waste of time, it evaporates in 3 days, end of solution.
