Can you show a larger photo of the truck? I will say, that the paint, which I’m assuming is original, is too far gone to do much about. Just drive it. Some strive mightily to achieve this ultra-trendy “Patina finish”, which you have naturally.
A CLR wash, and/or wet sanding will fix that. If you want it to shine a bit then a heavy buffing compound will do the job with a rotary buffer. Even works over the rusty areas, the rust will shine up.
throw some wax on there and call it good. Or you can just do a light clear coat. It WILL STILL RUST, though slower with the wax and you have more control over it.
Wash it with soap and water with a fine 3m scotchbrite pad. You can buff or protect from there.
Kind along that same lime I have used Dawn dish soap in the wash bucket and a kitchen sponge.
Now what cuts that is use Comet or Ajax powdered scrub.
Wet panel to be washed and a quick wash from bucket.
Then the powdered on panel and scrub using the bucket to keep it wet then rinse.
To keep it looking good for a bit I use Color Back think from turtle wax. I go over rust, primer, what ever till the whole car / truck is waxed.

CLR and 0000 steel wool will cut the surface rust stains and oxidation off. Then you can coat it with Boiled Linseed Oil or Penetrol to bring out more color and preserve it.
Another option is to use CLR/0000 steel wool then sand the rough rusted areas down with 2500, then buff it. I used a wool pad on a rotary buffer and Jescar Correcting Compound on this.

Nice working truck. But I personally wouldn’t waste time trying to polish it, I ‘d make sure every system is in top condition, maybe make the interior nice as can be, and drive it for the next 20 years.
