Hello everyone have had my 2008 ford e350 since 70k miles have 276k on it know and it just occurred to me never have changed the fuel filter is that something I should do is it something a non mechanic with basic knowledge can do myself. It also occurred to mean when acceleration I notice a delay like not having the get up and go acceleration that it once has 5.4 2 valve. Could be that I have never changed the fuel filter? Thanks
Your fuel filter is part of the fuel pump and is not part of a normal service schedule
Just replace the complete pump when it fails
Dodge started that crap back in 1995-96 with their Ram trucks IIRR
The engineers that came up with that should be castrated
Change the oil regularly and tune them up
Then, the 2 valve 5.4 motors will go 400k
I sure would not go on vacation (or long trip) without replacing the fuel pump
You keep one full of gas and the pump will go 300k+ on a duty cycle system
Good job
Glad I replaced it used a oem metal canister filter old one was full of varnish and grime and dirt don't don't if the fuel pump has a filter but there is definitely an external metal canister filter on the ford rconoline vans.
