When I bought this truck it had a decent oil leak, engine valley had plenty of oil in it. So I deleted the exhaust back pressure valve. Thought I had it fixed but nope. The leak is less now, but truck will leave 6in spot on the ground when you park it. It's not the hpop, it's coming from the back of the motor. Hpop rail plugs, Valve covers, oil cooler or the pan gasket it's self is leaking. Now this is going to be a work truck to pull my tractor around. Trying to decide if it's worth chasing or not.
Clean the valley of oil, then stuff all the shop towels you can down in there. Drive a few miles.... then pull the towels out to see what area of valley is soaking the towels.
I'd bet oil seals on turbo stand.

These leaks can be sneaky but you can find them. Usual suspects include the HPOP seals to the reservoir, high pressure hoses or the adapters on either end of the hoses, and the aforementioned pedestal o-rings. Then you also have the IPR and the ICP o-rings. The ICP has even been known to leak through the sensor into the connector of the harness. Just have to have the desire to find it and you will. Patience grasshopper.
Pretty certain it's either the pan or rear main. Truck has a new front cover on it. I can't see any evidence of the motor being pulled so it was done in frame. I'm thinking of just keeping a gallon of oil with me and running er
have you checked the oil galley plugs? where does the oil appear...is it just on the back side...is there wetness above the oil pan, etc. not a lot to go off of from your description. and pics you can share? Is the valley remaining dry now? Oil cooler/ gaskets good and dry
I need to do a proper degreasing, but the amount of oil I am getting on the ground the valley would be full and it's not. Its from the back of the motor heads down.
There's a drain in the valley that lets fluids run down the back of the engine, inside the bellhousing. If it's running down the outside of the bellhousing from the back of a head, it's probably one of the oil rail end plugs. If that's what it turns out to be, they come out easier if the engine is hot enough to soften the thread lock compound on them . . .
Are you 100% sure that this is just 'oil'. The fuel/water drain on the back of the fuel bowl my have a slight leak when the o-rings shrink up and not seal tight to the fuel bowl and start leaking into the valley. Valley oil and dirt and fuel mixed together may look like just oil when leaking down the back of the engine ( drain hole at the back of the valley) and onto the ground.

I was just about to post the same thing. I had the same issue about 16 yrs ago. Replaced the drain valve orings and hasn't leaked since. Much cheaper and easier than the other options. Check on riffraff diesels page. That's where I got mine and it is a different rubber that holds up against diesel. Just remember to drain it into a bucket first or you will have a nice mess to clean up. The drain tube runs down the passenger side of the motor.
Cleaned the top of the motor, fuel drain valve is weeping a tiny bit and I have a small leak coming from under the hpop , not nearly the amount that is hitting the ground on the drive way though.

Check it with the ignition on and if you can, with engine running. May be pushing more out when under pressure from the pump.
