1965 F100 Flareside; T18 w/ 289/302. been primary work horse for past 45 years.

Few days ago started for town when engine started bucking and surging, immediately turned around but only got 100 yards from home before calling tow service. The truck runs but unable to accelerate w/ out stalling.

After spraying carburetor cleaner in various ports engine ran fine, Rather than take a change ended up disassemble and clean important components and not a complete rebuild. Due to Ca. toxic gasoline find about every 5 years repairing carburetor is required.

Question;::
Had an unopened carburetor rebuild kit but it does not include replacement jets. The original jets are 66's but I have an unopened pack of 68 jets, Not sure if there would be any significant difference; faced with dilemma whether to stay with the 66's or replace with the 68's??

Comments/Suggestions appreciated!!

Stick to what you have , as you will be required to do a bit more tuning , for the 68's .
not horrible if you are in to it .

Not for the faint of heart , but you could drill the 66 to a 67 if you so desire .
personally unless you are running lean , I use a vacuum gauge , try the 68 ...see what the tail pipe tells you .
should be a light to medium gray .

Went with the 68's although 1st attempt fuel bowl transfer tube leaked like a sieve. Replaced the tube reassembled and now runs okay but still needs fine tuning. I may go back to the 66 jets, have not decided yet?

Appreciate the comment/suggestion

PS/ after fine tune decided to stay with the 68's
