When I start the truck cold it fires up and runs. When it gets hot. Especially, on hot days...it turns over and runs for a split sec then cuts out. Crank it again, same thing. After several attempts it starts and idles rough for about 5- 10 seconds. Is this a heatsoaked starter or another electrical problem?
So sorry. It's a '95 5.0 e4od trans 4wd with123,000 miles
If it was a heat soaked starter you would notice a slower cranking speed. Otherwise I would suspect a faulty sensor. Maybe the Air Intake/Air Charge Temperature Sensor or Idle Air Control Valve. Someone on this site should have an idea.
It cranks up, dies instantly. May take 1 more crank or 8 more Only happens hot so it cranks right up in the morning and after work but no stops for me til I get it figured out.

when it’s hot and does this have you ever tried holding the pedal to the floor and seeing if it will start?
any codes?
Sorry, guys. We're not allowed to have our phones in the shop. I have to wait for a break to reply. I haven't run the codes lately. There is no CEL on. I have tried giving it gas and starting it and it mostly sputters and dies. It acts like an EFI not a carb like it should, I guess. Honestly, I felt a little stupid trying that but I was desperate. It will eventually start after a couple cranks but I know the day is coming that it won't.

No hold it to the floor not just giving it a little throttle like you would a carb motor.
Holding the throttle wide open puts the TPS to WOT tell the computer the motor is flooded just like a carb motor holding it at WOT.
The computer then will not let the injectors fire putting more fuel in the holes.
If it fires off / runs then you know it is flooding and most likely the injectors are leaking.
I did not see anyone say take a fuel PSI test as this will show what is going on with the fuel system.
When you first turn the key to on the computer tell the fuel pump to run for a few seconds, sometimes you can hear this. This primes the fuel system and a test gauge should show PSI.
If the injectors dont leak it should hold PSI for a good bit of time. No PSI no prime and no gas / fuel to start.
Once running the fuel PSI should show PSI. If you remove the vacuum hose off the fuel PSI regulator the PSI should go up. You also should not see the inside of the hose wet.
Hose wet or PSI not going up bad regulator.
