I have a 99 EXP and the left rear turn signal and the brake light are both not working. The light bulb checked OK. I can't seem to find the blown fuse that could be causing this. Any suggestions where to start looking?
I've replaced the light bulb but it didn't fix the problem. There's no voltage when turn signal is engaged. I don't have an owner's manual and I didn't feel like checking every fuse in the fuse panel box.
I have a Ford truck but I actually had something similar happen on my sable - actually all my stop lights and signal lights lit and wouldn't go off regardless of anything I pressed unless I took out the fuse. Turns out there was a device connected to the arm of the break pedal that is a sensor for breaking that turns the break lights on with the depression of the pedal and it went bad. I fixed it myself with the part from Mercury. May or may not be something you might want to check on.
I dunked the boat yesterday, and shortly thereafter found that I no longer have turn signals on my 1997 Explorer, even with the trailer disconnected. I examined all 427 fuses that I could find, but they appear to be good. A little frustrated, because the manual has no info regarding which fuse does what, and the fuse box has See Owners Manual under the cover.
Oh, I replaced my flasher module about a year ago with an aftermarket model -- it was three pin vs. the 14 pin I pulled out from the factory. Never had any trouble with it until now though, so I suspect this isn't part of my problem.
I tried going to FordVehicles.com to search, added an account, went to MyFord, etc, but I could not get any more information other than how to browse for floormats for a new truck. You would think that 'search' would return at least some sort of clue for stuff like this.
I am frustrated -- if anyone has this information, please post where it can be found.
Thanks Paul, I must have overlooked it when I was searching yesterday. Unfortunately, it wasn't either of the fuses related to the turn signals (fuse 21/22). I suppose that I will have to change the flasher again. Come to think of it, last check-up I had, the four-ways weren't working, so maybe the 3-pin flasher doesn't have enough functionality to hack the mission. It seems strange that the flasher would go out before one of the fuses would. A design flaw perhaps?
I had an 00 expy and the left turn signal went out on my boat trailer. The truck lights worked fine so I spent about two weeks chasing a problem on the trailer. Even re-wired the entire trailer.
The I looked in the manual.......separate fuse for trailer turn lights....MAN I felt dumb.
That is pretty funny -- I am hoping to have an answer for this soon -- I am tired of driving without turn signals. Of course, being in West Palm, I mix in well now with all of the New York drivers. :-) I will pick up a flasher module probably tomorrow and see if that solves it -- any good reason why I should get the one with a whole bunch of pins, rather than the three pin variety?
This thread is likely a big cob web by now, but thought I might try and hit it up for some help. I too recently noticed a left tail light (turn signal and brake) stop working on my 99 Expy. Did you end up finding the issue with yours? Was it a fuse?
