Has anyone had any luck with a tailgate assist kit for their Super Duty? Mine is a '99. I'm looking at one that uses a hydraulic cylinder and claims no mods to truck are needed. My tailgate seems to be getting heavier every year. Thanks for your help.
I installed one last year and definitely a noticeable difference when opening tailgate. Much better too now vs when someone would open tailgate assuming it's hydraulic assist when it wasn't!
Keep an eye on the nut that threads into the insert. A more robust option might be following this tip:

I’ve used the same one on two different trucks—currently on a 2015 F-250 with a non-step tailgate, and previously on a 2008 F-350 with the step tailgate. It worked great on both setups and held up for years without any issues. I definitely recommend it, especially if you have the tailgate with the step.

Thanks for the response. I'm getting one ordered up.
