Help identify this tailgate please
I took pictures of the hinge points on the tailgate and the tailgate itself. The driver side of the tailgate doesn't fit. If I can identify the year, maybe I can swap out the post on the bed that it fits on to. Any help is appreciated.

The driver's side doesn't fit properly because of the rubber piece in the tailgate, which is part of the 'dampener' system that makes the tailgate not 'slam' down. There are two ways to make it fit, provided this is an '08-10 tailgate.
#1, and the right way, is to buy a driver's side hinge for an '08-10 truck and replace your hinge. It will bolt right on.
#2, and the way I did it because I didn't care about having the dampener, is to unbolt it from the bottom of the tailgate (IIRC the bolts are accessible from the exterior) and the rubber piece and the rod all slide right out. It has been YEARS since I did this (I think I did it back in 2013/14?), but I believe I had to open the access panel on the back side of the tailgate to remove the clip that holds the rod in place so it didn't rattle around inside. Once that rubber piece is out of the way it'll mate right up with your driver's side hinge.
