Help identify this tailgate please

I have a 2000 F250 crew cab that is in overall excellent condition. One flaw was a dented tailgate where someone obviously dropped something heavy and creased the metal. I found this one on eBay that says it will fit 1999 - 2007.

I took pictures of the hinge points on the tailgate and the tailgate itself. The driver side of the tailgate doesn't fit. If I can identify the year, maybe I can swap out the post on the bed that it fits on to. Any help is appreciated.

If I were to guess it is a tailgate from an '11 or '12 Super Duty, in '13 they added a "trim line" near the top of the tailgate which is about a 1/4" wide indent running parallel with the top of the tailgate that shapes a "U" pattern to go around the tail gate handle.

Thank you. I have messaged the seller to see what he says, but no reply as of yet. I appreciate the help!

Looks exactly like the '08 tailgate (which would be '08-10 body style) that I put on my '04 years back.

The driver's side doesn't fit properly because of the rubber piece in the tailgate, which is part of the 'dampener' system that makes the tailgate not 'slam' down. There are two ways to make it fit, provided this is an '08-10 tailgate.

#1, and the right way, is to buy a driver's side hinge for an '08-10 truck and replace your hinge. It will bolt right on.

#2, and the way I did it because I didn't care about having the dampener, is to unbolt it from the bottom of the tailgate (IIRC the bolts are accessible from the exterior) and the rubber piece and the rod all slide right out. It has been YEARS since I did this (I think I did it back in 2013/14?), but I believe I had to open the access panel on the back side of the tailgate to remove the clip that holds the rod in place so it didn't rattle around inside. Once that rubber piece is out of the way it'll mate right up with your driver's side hinge.

Thanks very much! You guys have helped tremendously and confirmed what hinge component I need to change. I found one locally that is fairly inexpensive. This forum and those of you in it are the greatest resource I have found for my truck. Thank you again!
