Torque Specification Confusion

I'm in the process of reinstalling the valve cover and push rod inspection cover on my 81 F100 with a 4.9 six so I was searching for the torque specs. I'm pretty sure the information on the valve cover is correct which says 4 to 7 ft lbs (48-84 inch-lbs). But I found 2 different opinions on the site for the inspection cover. One says 2.8 to 3.9 ft lbs (25-35 inch lbs). The other says 1.5 to 2.2 ft lbs (18 to 27 in-lbs) Can someone chime in with the correct specs for both covers? Thanks.

Who uses a TQ wrench for valve, side cover and pan bolts?
Stubby 1/4 drive ratch is all you need as you cant over tighten with that but get it tight enough.

I dont own a inch pound and my TQ wrench think starts at 50 lb way to much for them little bolts.

Does the gasket supplier recommend a torque? Often different gasket types need different torques. And maybe a tightening pattern as well? You can estimate torque for example 5 ft-lbs is 5 pounds force on a 1 foot long wrench or ratchet. Or 10 pounds force on a 6" tool.

Yep, 1/4" ratchet, snug them, you can and will come back later and snug them again. In the last 35 years I've snugged mine a few times, along with the oil pan bolts.

Just remember you’re tightening a small fastener. Not trying to break it off. There are very few things I torque.
I’ve been working on things for over 60 years.

Agree, I know the difference between inch lbs and foot lbs, so I don’t want to over tighten or under tighten either cover, that's why I'm trying to find out the proper torque specs.

I understand, you want to do it like the factory did. But like a lot of us old guys. The only things we ever worried about torquing were head bolts, main and rod caps, flywheels. It wasn't till recent times, say 20 years ago, when we began torquing lug nuts. Back in the 70's, I just tighten the lug nuts on my Cragar Mag wheels. Even when putting the slicks on the car, all of us tightened the lug nuts in the Pits.
