Violent Death Wobble

I know, this subject is covered as-nauseam but every case has it's quirks. This is also my first Ford truck in 30 years. It's 1990 F350 2WD Dually. Driving it home after I paid for it and the drive was about 75 mikes on mostly secondary roads. Going about 45 and I hit a little bump or hole and I experienced the MOST violent shaking in a vehicle ever, and I have been driving for 45 years. This happened 3-4 times on that drive. The shaking is so severe that its definitely causing damage to the already worn parts. We know what it is and my question is where to start with the replacement of parts. The power steering seems in good condition as there is little no play and I am not constantly having to adjust the steering to stay in my lane. so I think the steer box may not need to be replaced, correct my if wrong about that.

This truck has a solid drop I-beam (monobeam) front axle 2WD

Kingpins

Tie Rod Ends

Drag Link & Pittman Arm

Steering Box

Steering Stabilizer

Wheel Bearings

Axle Bushings / Leaf Spring Bushings

This is an old Bell South phone guy truck with not many miles and I seriously doubt any of the steering components have ever been touched or replaced

The King Pin replacement seams like a real PITA as it would require the removal of many if not everything attached to the end of the axles. That seems like it would cause the greatest amount of pain so I would save that for last.
I think anything plastic or rubber is just gone on this front end.
Should I just order and install all of the parts? I am looking for some insight with this particular type of axle.
Thanks for any help with this as I can't drive this until the problem is corrected.

If it has a mono-beam front suspension, I believe it is an F-Super Duty, not an F-350. F-350 2WD would have been TIB.

Yes replace any worn parts but, in my experience, the most reliable fix for death wobble is a big steering stabilizer.

This is beyond wobble its so violent. As for the model, it's really a 1990 Ford F59 (8 Cylinders M 7.3L MFI Diesel OHV 444 CID There are several places where its indicating that it is a 350 and theguy I bought it from said it was an F450, both are wrong, but the badge on the truck does say F/super duty.

As for the problem, I do want to work my way from easy/less $ to possibly difficult/ more $$$ and time is money. I am finding that a stabilizer is important but it's not fixing the cause, just masking it.

If this was mine, I would replace every wear part at the front end. It's a lot easier in the long run to just handle it as one job. Many times, it's not just one worn part, but all of them put together that causes the problem. Don't forget the brake hydraulics. Hoses tend to fail with that mileage/age.

I am certainly leaning that way. Can you advise as to how I can find the correct parts for replacement. I'd like to know iif any of the F250/350/450 parts are compatible.

There has been some brake work that is very clear on the front. New hard lines at the wheel. Its also apparant that thr truck has been sitting for a very long time or used very sporadically. 20k on a rebuiilt Jasper installed in 1999 and only 3K in the last 12 years. This is all a new world to me being diesel and a dually and being an F59,

That is a F-Super Duty. Many suspension and drivetrain parts do not interchange with the F250/350 trucks.

theguy I bought it from said it was an F450

The F-Super Duty was renamed to the F-450 in '99 when the current "Super Duty" trucks were introduced.

this is a '90 and a completely different truck. Do they share any of the same steering and axle parts?

Axle parts, no. Steering, maybe Pittman arm and tie rod ends. Not much interchanges below the body line.

Check your toe in alignment if your net yet committed to purchasing all the replacement parts. If anything give it a little extra toe in.

At least then all the slop is being forced on direction to the toe out.

I have yet to dig in. I am trying to determine how to source the correct parts for a Ford F59 Superduty and if F350/450 share some steering parts.

You need to ADD a shimmy shock to that 4x2 Monobeam
Ford made a kit back in the day, and you can probably still get it for a Super Duty
