1 gallon of gas in 17 or 18 gallons of diesel will do no damage in our old girls.
if i had trucks with summer fuel in them, i would add a gallon or two and them top off the tanks to thin the mix a bit to prevent gelling in the cold.
back in the 70's and 80's i used to put in 1 gallon of gas for every 10 gallons of fuel in the fuel tanks of the detroit and mercedes powered trucks to keep them running in winter.
I wasn't sure how much I could get away with so I was playing it safe. It was a long time ago and my truck was still pretty new.
Some add diesel to gas to keep from having vapor lock. I haven't seen anyone else saying add gas to diesel before, you are the first.
what is this "oem electric pre pump" you are talking about?
these engines only have one fuel pump, the mechanical lift pump on the lower front of the passenger side of the engine.
you said it "held fuel pressure for a few days" how much pressure? you want no more than about 10 psi pressure.
it is possible someone put a high pressure electric fuel pump on and it is over pressuring the injector pump.

I bypassed that as well just pulling out of the new mechanical pump out of a 5g can.
