Magic Air Heater Core Solution

This weekend I tore apart my rusty non-functional Magic Air heater. My truck has all of the outside ducting removed and the intake hole welded shut by a PO so the heater is a recirculating only, which is fine with me. The heater core was rotten and leaking. I replace it with a heater core from a 1984-86 Ford Econoline. The part was listed as a Ford Ready-Aire E6UZ-18476-A. The coolant tubes were too short on the new core. I couldn’t sweat the tubes off without removing the tank. I opted to use 1/2” copper couplers from the local hardware store instead. The tubes needed to be bent a little. In hindsight, it would have been better to enlarge the holes in the heater core housing and the firewall. I didn’t do that. It still worked out fine. I’m posting in case this info can help someone down the road.

Great job!
BE sure to use short sheet metal screw to fasten the cover back on, or you'll run the screw through your nice new heater core.....not that I've ever done that. Yeah right
