Hi Cuddles and welcome, there is only a few of us here that post regularly so nice to have a new voice in the group. Your picture link didn't attach to your post , I for one would like to see your truck if you can give another try. My son is in Peterborough. I am coming there June 20-21 for his wedding. I'm Mike from Chelmsford, close to Sudbury.
Hello Mike: Maybe we can meet in June. Busy summer. I will try to attach some photos. I restored my sun shield and painted it cream and then painted it red with pin stripes. I have no speedometer presently. It seized so I will have to take it somewhere for repairs.
Hi Cuddles. I didn't know you are in Peterborough. I was there for a short time on Saturday. Was planning to go to the races but they got rained out so decided to give up the hotel room and came home.
Hello Marten: Ah, well I ended up helping a friend dismantle a 64 foot radio tower on Saturday so I couldn't meet with you anyway. I was up in the clouds that day. Hopefully next time you are in town, eh ?
I am unfamiliar with navigating this site. Someone gave me detailed instructions to repair my door lock on my 42.
It just occurred to me that I think the instructions given were to repair / free up the lock mechanism because I remember him mentioning a graphite lubricant.
But the problem is NOT the lock itself (I think) because the key moves freely in the lock. This gives me reason to believe the mechanism that attaches the lock to the door has become disengaged. I could be wrong.
Problem is, the space inside the door is so narrow, I can't see what I am looking for. Perhaps everything IS still connected to the keyed lock but it doesn't make sense if the key turns freely.
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Cuddles. if you look farther up the index on this forum you will find a section titled older trucks. In there is a section for '48-'56 trucks. Someone there will be better able to help you out. I'd link it but almost every time I try I mess it up.
John, your good at making thing like this work, links that is. Perhaps you can set Cuddles up.
Morning Cuddle, wlecome to FTE. I see you found the ‘47 and earlier forum. If I were closer I’d offer to have a look at it with you. Good luck with it.
