Hello Everyone,
Little help please.
186,000 miles. Original owner. Regular maintenance.
Previous month or so vehicle has lost its usually quick cold startup. Seemed to hesitate. Later in the day after use it is normal again.
Battery was a right at recommended replacement date.
Now has AC delco 850CCA. Cold Starts better and still not with the same zip as previous.
Alternator check is fine. No visible frayed cables/connectors.
Checked ect sensor and primed pump in case of that. No change.
Any thoughts?
Vehicle is very well maintained since 2010.
Thanks in advance.

Reason: clarity
So is it a slow crank, or an extended crank with no fire till it spins for a while?
My BIL had an early Explorer. Slow cranking was linked to battery cables that looked ok until you peeled back the insulation and found them corroded inside the insulation pretty much the full length of the cable.
With the new 850cc battery it starts on first turn and still does not have the Zip that was present more than few months ago.
Before I replaced the battery, it would hesitate then engine on.
these are both cold starts.
It would never have extended crank.
In both instances it starts/started normal later in the day after use. Engine warm.
pardon it has been in the shop three times now.
Wife's car and she is very attached to it.
Mint condition.
So you see I am on a mission from on high.

Reason: more info
After reading the posts above I'm still unclear whether the concern is (1) the speed at which the starter motor spins the engine over or whether the concern is that (2) the starter motor has to spin the engine over for longer than you're used to.
If (1), then the voltage drop and current draw tests would be useful information to help provide more information.
If (2), then knowing the voltage drop is still useful, but also knowing the fuel pressure reading (measured) would be useful. Also, what is the condition of the engine oil, has it been replaced recently, and what viscosity of oil was used? Did the new oil filter have an anti-backflow valve?
