The ECM is programmed to do a regen burn every 500 miles regardless of DPF soot load %. My understanding is this is done to prevent coughing the DPF unnecessarily, though it is highly annoying to watch out do a regen burn when you're towing a trailer and your DPF soot load has been sitting at 0% for the last 700 miles. Even when not towing, mine will sit at 0% until it gets to about 450 miles since the last burn, then it will start to climb in ~5% increments until if gets to ~25-70%, I guess to make you think it really needs to do a burn. Interesting the highest my banks iDash has ever showed DPF % is ~25%, and usually much less than that.

Also, not sure if they changed it but up until MY23 trucks at least, the DPF soot load % displayed on the dash was always double what it actually was. Not sure why, but somebody somewhere thought it was a good idea.

Yeah I recently had a regen with the SL% at 80% and went out to 498 miles IIRC. I have had them go slightly over 500 miles, nothing in tow, when on vacation in Kentucky climbing those hills in the summer time getting EGT4 temps nice and hot.

My iDash SL PID has recently been matching my truck SL PID. Truck's at 90% and at about 400 miles out. iDash went over 100%. I used to see the iDash SL go to high 130s/low 140s. It's all over the place.

Dave, just sell the 2016 and get into a new one. You know you want too.... just make a few more arrests to get your commission up!!!
I won't make a cop joke... but arresting folks is not like selling cars or houses Dave...

Never will sell the 16. You see me with a brand new truck, it's either my kid's I helped buy or a second one...

Never say never Dave. Wish the site had a bookmark functionality so I could come back to your post in a few years. Glad you like your truck that much.

Time will tell but have more important things to buy than a new diesel truck, that like this one I want, but don't need.
