I have a 1978 f150. Just replaced the spark plugs and wires. The plugs were worn out for sure. I’m still having a little rough idle and it’ll stall in the morning. I know it needs to warm up a bit but it shouldn’t need to sit for 10 minutes before driving. Someone mentioned to check the cap and rotor as well. Also leaking fuel from the fuel connection line just under the carb, not sure if that would make it stall. Leaking from silver bar with the screw in it. Can see the puddle underneath
It is probably because you have an aftermarket carburetor with electric choke. They take awhile to open up enough to drive without stalling. i would suggest some adjustments to the choke. Also make sure the choke is getting 12 v dc not the ac voltage the original choke wiring provided.
The leak shouldn't cause problems other than risk catching on fire. Fix the leak.

everything on this, came with it. I’m just trying to get it going as efficient and nice as possible. What would you suggest changing on it to make it run easier? But yes, I’m gonna unscrew it today and see if it’s just a ring or what. But have an extinguisher in the cab just in case.
I am not familiar with edelbrock/carter afb style carburetors. But without hearing how it runs, I would suggest tuning the carb. Get a vacuum gauge and study how to make idle adjustments and check operation of the choke and adjust it if needed. That plug in the fuel line is for a gauge. I have heard those edelbrock carbs do not like too much fuel pressure. Maybe others can weigh in but it seems like a lot of people that run them have a fuel pressure regulator to reduce carb inlet pressure.

This is true. I'm running an Eddy 750 on my 460....won't idle without a FPR. I'm using a Holley 12-803 adjusted down to 5.5 psi. Runs like a Swiss watch.

don’t know much about this stuff but I have a 1405 edelbrock carb, saw the stamp on it. Is there a certain one I should get or are they plug and play

Are you asking about the carburator or the Fuel Pressure Regulator??? The carbs are plug n play. The Fuel Pressure Regulator you should use is Holley Pn 12-803.
My carb is a 750cfm.... Edelbrock pn 1407. I think a 1405 is 600cfm...and a 1406 would be 650cfm carb.

yes sorry. Okay, thank you. I will get that ordered for sure.
