I have ford f-250 2014 6.2l with 118000 mi on it. Ystrdy i started it and started to drive slow cuz it was a parking lot, all the sudden this alarm goes off and my traction control, abs, and parking brake warning lights come on and on the dash it said," CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" and "CHECK ADVANCETRAC". So I parked and shut the motor off, then I pressed the brake and all my lights on the inside flickered and I couldnt restart the truck, it wouldnt even turn. I popped the hood and checked the battery to make sure it was hooked up right, everything was connected I could wiggle the negative, but it was still connected. I checked to make sure nothin was loose and tried to start the truck. It started no problem and within 5 sec the warnings went away. I think the computers reset tho because I had to put the dash info back the way I had it and change the radio station to what it was on before. Do I need to look into it further or just leave it alone and hope it does not come back?
You should not be able to wiggle the negative battery cable. All the resets you mentioned are consistent with the battery being disconnected. Tighten that cable down so that it doesn't move, and while you're at it, clean off any corrosion on both terminals.
Check the grey plug above the parking brake. Releasing the parking brake jars the plug and can cause bad connections. I had a similar issue but all was fixed after i removed the plug from the mount, unplugged and reconnected it. See the link below for more info. Hope this helps.
Clean both ends of both secondary (large battery) cables.
The positive connection down at the starter is exposed to the elements. Clean the starter area, the fastener, and cable end.
Reinstall then hit it with battery terminal spray protectant.
There are two types of sprays. The greasy stuff and the clear or orange/red that drys like paint. I prefer the latter on the starter connection. The greasy spray goes under the hood.
You need to do this every so often as part of routine maintenance.
I install the felt impregnated washers under the terminals. Keeps them good for ever.
If you use spray at the battery do the undersides of the terminals. Then clean the center before installing. Tighten everything down then hit the tops lightly with the spray.
Careful to not over apply the spray. If applied too heavy it can wick between the post & terminal and cause high resistance and actually insulate the post from the terminal.
The proper order to remove battery cables is... remove the negative side first positive second. Opposite on reassembly...+ first - last. Prevents unintentional arcing.
Doesn't hurt to hunt down the smaller primary grounds throughout the truck and give them the same treatment.
Look for braided ground straps as well as coated insulated grounds. Look at the engine to firewall grounds et al....
