Also keep in mind that SAE J2807 which makes it an even playing field with tow capacity and bragging rights didn't come out until 2008. It didn't get fully adopted until something like 2011 by the big three. Anything before that was Marketing. The 500 pound Non WDH rating is pretty much across the boards on all vehicles, some go up to 700, but majority stuck to 500.
