Got this 1994 f150 351w 2wd a few weeks ago and it is having some issues. It gets garbage fuel economy, has a check engine light, and blows black smoke out of the exhaust. I scanned the computer and got these codes.
117
638
126
122
112
327
513
553
552
565
556
all these codes have the same general meaning of “below min. Voltage” or “circuit failure” or “voltage failure”. What does this mean? What do I need to replace? TIA, any help is appreciated.
Sounds like a computer (PCM) problem. Leaking capacitors and burnt traces are a common problem.
The PCM is removed by pulling it into the engine bay, after loosening the bracket behind the driver's side kick panel, and unplugging the main harness connector, by loosening the 10 mm ? bolt, that secures the connector to the PCM. You might need to remove the fender liner.

It would be a good time to clean, tighten and replace ground connections if necessary. The main ground cable from the battery negative terminal to the engine block and frame, can corrode internally. This style of battery terminal is known to cause issues (ignore the arrow)
