89 B2 Check engine light flickers....
cuts out, revs than cuts out. Well I put in a new distrubator with module.
Now when I rev it up the check engine light flickers and it tries to stall. When the idle comes down no check engine light. Here's what's new:
fuel pump, tps, plugs, cap, and distrubator. It is a 1989 B2 2.9 V6
automatic 4X4. Fuel pressure holds steady at 35psi. Any suggestions???
codes with a digital meter or does it have to be analog? I don't have an
analog meter...
What codes do you think would cause this? ThanksWith a digital meter, you might miss a voltage pulse. On your '89 that has a CEL, the CEL will flash with each pulse, so you can count the flashes to get codes.
Bring engine to operating temp.
Jumper STI to SIG-RET with a paper clip, piece of baling wire, or other form of jumper wire.
If M/T, put in neutral
Turn the key on and count flashes.
I realize Ken's article is taken directly from a factory repair manual, so it is written assuming a certain level of expertise that not all novices have. You might search DIY repair manuals, and the internet for a set of instructions that is a little easier for you to understand. (If FTE will allow) One set I like for beginners is the instructions at www.fordfuelinjection.com A little verbose, but I think it explains the process so that a first timer can understand what's going on.
