Does anyone know how to test power window motor without the switch? I got doors from a wrecker and I have tried to hook a battery up to them but I can't get them to move or make any noise. I wanted to see if they work before I buy a switch assembly and mount them on the truck. Any help would be great.

All it is , basically is a 12 v DC motor, it either can go either way, by the rocker switch, the switch controls the moment and if its out of time, will not work in the bracket...some even has a cut off relay switch to signal that the arm has reached its end and should stop....thats the way its design to work. Also some have to routed through the fuse for a certain amount of amps....15,to 25 or 30 amp...depending on how much the winding makes the motor run with a start booster in the motor housing. If the brushed has weak springs attached to the armature, no contact will result.
ill tell you something else they work on reverse poliratity power to power and ground to ground make motor go up and power ground and power ground will make it go down. Have fun
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I just wanted to thank Herman for his info. The reverse polarity is what was hanging me up, now I have my windows open. I shaved the door handles on my truck and I was sick of going through the back window every time I accidentally closed the door. Now that I'm working on the flair again I hope to have some pics up soon.
you can also get the remote they sell in autozone the one that has 1234 buttons, they also work in monotary. 1 would be for up 2 would be for down, 3 would be for the second window up and 4 down.
NAPA carries some SPDT switches for windows and doors, abet high in cost, but well worth it to check out and get, I use an rocker switch (for gm) to make my windows go up or down in a non mortorize situation that wasn't designed for the roll up/down windows, useing a window motor from an old 77 monti carlo, next am going to have my roll doors move by themselves using an remote and a arm from an overhead garage door opener....
