I’ve been following this thread with interest because I’m tired of dealing with clunky third party TPMS systems and extra monitors and want a clean integrated solution. Before I order some expensive parts though, I want to make absolutely sure I’m ordering the right components that will work with my truck’s configuration.
I have a 2024 F250 XLT with XLT premium package, 360 degree camera package, and Sync 4, but it does not have any type of backup assist or trailer camera options. I’ll be pulling a 26’ bumper pull toy hauler.
From this thread and the Ford Accessories web site it sounds like all I need is:
Super Duty 2023-2025 Trailer TPMS Monitoring Kit PC3Z1A189AB $470
Super Duty 2023-2025 Base Wire Harness Kit without YAW Sensor Connection PC3Z15A416B $175
According to the description on the Ford website, the only requirement for the harness kit is the 360 camera system, which I have, and from what I’m reading here, the yaw damper is only required for fifth wheels.
There also appears to be a couple of all-inclusive kits, with and without “Pro Trailer Backup Assist,” for $650 (LC3Z1A189EG & LC3Z1A189BH) that look to include the harness, module, connectors, and sensors, but the description says they require the truck to be equipped with the “Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System (874),” which I don’t have.
Anyone know what the difference is between the harness that comes with the all inclusive kits and the stand alone harness? They look very similar in the pictures.
So, it sounds to me like I can’t use either of the all inclusive kits because I don’t have the “Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System,” but I CAN buy the sensor/module kit and the harness kit (without yaw sensor) separately and they will work with my truck’s configuration. Does that sound correct?
The Ford website doesn’t mention that any programming to enable the trailer TPMS is required, so is it safe to assume that the truck will automatically recognize and enable it once it’s installed?

I have the same option content as you. Order the non pro trailer back up version. And get the TPMS training tool will help with the learning process. At least it did for me. Pretty simple install, hardest part is getting the sensors in the trailer wheels.

Are you sure you have the latest Ford sensors? How do you know? If I were to buy any system components, it would either be from Ford or Nichols Manufacturing.
I've had 3 sets of sensors... the first set came with my 2019 and I left them in my trailer when I sold it. the second set I bought off E-Bay to put on my new 5th wheel in 2022. the third set I just installed when I changed the tires on the 5th wheel and bought them from my ford dealer. I'm still using the original wiring harness and receiver. I'm still not getting temp on the dash. I was planning on replacing the receiver to the latest version but it's starting to sound like that might not be the solution.

Agree on the training tool, I threw one out that I had (so stupid) and then when I went to train the system, the first sensor i tried had been damaged on install, so I couldn't even get started, then i figured that out, but the training won't accept 3 tires, ugh.
Note to others, mine took 2 ignition cycles to ask me to train the sensors, after searching the manual and googling how to do it, it prompted me and was easy, except the above. Temp and pressure now show perfectly.
Also, I didn't put the harness on the trailer, just plugged it in the truck bed and left it there. (changing trailers much easier that way)
Hope I'm in the right place here. My 2023 F250 has factory prep 5th wheel package with the 7/12 pin connector in the bed. I have the trailer TPMS kit PC3Z1A189AB but cannot find the trailer hookup cable that goes from the trailer sensor module to the bed connection. I've looked at PC3Z15A416B wire harness but it looks like all the parts I already have and cannot tell if it includes the connection cable. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?
You need a "base" harness: Pc3t-14b242-ba. This is used to connect your trailer to truck thru the 12 pin. It will include the Yaw, TPMS and camera connectors. On my Brinkley 5th wheel, I had to remove the TPMS and Camera connectors (just the bulky shell of each) from this harness in order to pull the harness from king pin into my front compartment. Not fun ! Yes its true they made this very convoluted. At time of ordering, I checked the box for a trailer camera. What a joke! The camera I got was intended for a horse trailer or something I don't have. The housing was a cheap 3d printed part. It could not have cost them $5 for all the parts and they charge in the $100's.

Did you order the trailer TPMS with the truck or as aftermarket? When ordered with the vehicle it should come with the base wiring harness but when ordered after market their are different SKUs depending on what you already have and what you need.
The way they designed it, if you get the higher trim level truck, it comes with backup assist for your trailer. On a bumper pull trailer, you use the tailgate camera to tell computer whats happening with the trailer. With a 5th wheel, thats not an option so they include a "yaw" sensor cable in the kit that jumps the hitch and has a single connector on trailer end that mates to yaw sensor. Now if you want TPMS and/or trailer camera option, they trash that "yaw" cable and you need the "base" harness which has yaw, TPMS and camera. No other harness option to jump the hitch.
So, how do you get TPMS ?, you need the base harness: Pc3t-14b242-ba then the TPMS kit: PC3z1a189absub1. There is considerable confusion about what TPMS sensors you need. Last I spoke with the Nichols guy in Phoenix (602-723-5456), he advised he was the only one that sells the stems (.625"); apparently Ford did not make them. Even if you get the stems from him, you still need the sensors from Ford. Sensors for Aluminum rims: PC3Z-1A189-H Sensors for Steel rims: PC3Z-1A189-D. You cannot get just the sensors, you need to buy the stem/sensors then use the stems from Nichols. I suspect this has all changed by now, but last year it was accurate.
HTH.
Backup Trailer Assist "kit" is: LC3T-14G621-AE inside this kit is the yaw sensor cable: mc3t-14b242-ha. This cable jumps the hitch but again is yaw only.
Thanks for all your info. I must be getting old because this is really confusing! I had all the backup assist crap on my 2019 and never used it so opted to go simple on my 2023 and just ordered the 5th wheel prep package. I bought the trailer tpms kit from the ford dealer but haven't installed it yet because of my confusion over how to connect the trailer sensor module to the truck. It looked to me like the 'basic wire harness without yaw' (Pc3t-14b242-ba) was the harness used on the truck to connect the 7/12 plug in the bed - which I already have.
My 5th wheel is set up to use the Lippert TPMS but I'm concerned but using an external sensor - even with metal valve stems.

Thanks again...
To be clear, the base wiring harness is not what is used on the truck to install the combo 7/12 pin connection points, but is the harness you plug IN to the 12 pin connection point that runs over to your trailer. It has inputs on the trailer side for the TPMS repeater, camera, and blind spot sensors.
I want to add TPMS only to my travel trailer but i may have ordered the wrong parts . I ordered Base Wire Harness Kit without YAW Sensor Connection PC3Z15A416B and Trailer TPMS Monitoring Kit PC3Z1A189AB. Ford chat worthless and site basically stated this is what i need, Doesn't look like TPMS box will plug into this harness. 2026 F250 Tremor with 360 and trailer backup assist. any help would be appreciated.
