97 Powerstroke Fuel Pressure Issues

I have 97 7.3 Powerstroke that I am worried about fuel pressure with. I normally run 50-60psi at idle and 70-80 while driving. I let my tank get lower than normal when driving recently and I noticed that my fuel pressure was way down. I filled up and It ran fine but pressure was still way low. I think I was seeing 30-40 while driving and I'm at 22 at idle. My in truck fuel pressure gauge is electronic, but I doublechecked the pressure with a manual gauge. I have replaced the fuel filter, I have dropped the tank and cleaned the screens. Neither returned my pressure to normal. It starts fine and seems to run fine but I was still worried so I stopped by Ford to make an appointment. While trying to make the appointment, I talked to the main Diesel Tech and he told me that that my current pressures are above Fords specs for a 97 with a mechanical fuel pump and he wouldn't worry about them. The only thing that bothered him was the decrease in what I am reading and he couldn't explain it. He was surprised with my old numbers with a mechanical pump. Please give me your thoughts.

I drove it this evening and my fuel pressure is 22 at idle and if I accelerate slowly my fuel pressure will slowly increase to around 30. Any more acceleration only serves to lower fuel pressure at that point. I am lost.

A bit more detail for anyone else reading this thread. The engine starts right up and it isn't missing. The fuel pump was replaced less than 6 months ago.

Were the screens clogged?
If they were, pump could have over heated and needs replacing

Clear the FPR out? Not common but some have had crud in it and cleaning brought PSI back up

The screens weren't clogged. I didn't write it up for the sake of brevity, but the hutch mod had already been done. They didn't add an inline filter though, so the only filtration that existed was fuel filter in the bowl. :-(
