Hello, I know this is a common issue and I've searched the forums to the best of my ability, but here's the simple question: what is the replacement part # for the 3rd brake light wiring harness/pigtail? Does anywhere still sell new ones? I've looked at LMC and Jeff's Bronco Graveyard and JBG has this: https://shop.broncograveyard.com/199...nfo/349882+KIT -- should I just buy that and rewire the lights myself? I'm new to wiring so that sounds intimidating.
I'd rather not go to pick'n'pull and spend my time only to find more melted parts. Do I just buy one new socket and rewire that one? I think I'd prefer to avoid using LED? But I'm curious if anyone has first hand experience about this Amazon one with automatic trans -- https://a.co/d/6GT2Ja6.
The reason for asking is that I just noticed one of my sockets is essentially melted (the common overheating issue), and installing a new bulb does not resolve anything. I don't really care about the housing being in perfect condition or not, just the pigtail.
The "right" Ford parts department should be able to find that little bulb connector for you
Problem is with inexpensive parts, there is less incentive for them to look "hard" for a small part where they make very little profit
I would keep searching the junkyards, not everyone rides their brakes

Any help is appreciated!
(not my picture, but mine looks similar)
the nice part of a 2 wire bulb is you cant **** up the order of the wires
you only need to properly install the wires onto the exisitng wires
I just replaced all three of the sockets on my 95 150 for the same reason. They were totally melted as well as the housing.
I got a new housing and the sockets from Jeffs Bronco graveyard. The new housing is an improved design from the original. It has vent holes to allow the bulb heat to escape without melting the housing. The sockets with pigtails are $4 a piece. Made mine look and function like new again.
Stay away from the cheap LED replacements on Amazon and Ebay. The third brake light is somehow tied in with the transmission wiring and the LEDs can cause shifting issues with the E40D and the 4R70W
